The Oral Bible Translation Consultative and Engagement Training started on 21st March 2023 in Lusaka.

The three-day Consultative Oral Bible Engagement Training, which began on 21st March 2023, attracted participants from various church mother bodies across Zambia.

The five church mother bodies invited to attend the training include the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ), Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ), and the Zambian Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB).

Other attendees include government officials from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information, Local Government, and Guidance and Religious Affairs under the Office of the Vice President.

The purpose of the training is to discuss and develop recommendations on how Oral Translated Scripture, as well as virtual, sign language, and written scriptures, can be used as tools for evangelism through media, education, in chiefdoms, and within society.

The consultative training, organized by three Bible translation bodies—Bible Literature and Translation Association (BiLTA), Bible Society of Zambia, and The Word for the World—in partnership with the American Bible translation institution Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH), is being held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka.

Apostle Vincent Chibesa, the Vice National Secretary for BiLTA, confirmed the training, which is currently taking place in Lusaka.

The closing ceremony will be conducted today by the Vice President of Zambia, Mutale Nalumango, at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, where the training is being held.
